Restorative
Dentures
A well-made denture restores comfortable eating, clear speech and a natural smile. Modern dentures are a long way from the loose plates people remember — and we fit and adjust them until they’re genuinely comfortable.

Grass-tree spike — a full, complete set, standing tall again.
Full or partial
Whether you’re replacing every tooth or filling a few gaps, a denture is made to your own mouth — shaped for your bite and matched to look natural.
Full dentures
Replace a complete upper or lower set of teeth, restoring your smile and the ability to eat and speak with confidence.
Partial dentures
Fill the gaps left by a few missing teeth, clipping around the natural teeth that remain — a removable alternative to a bridge or implant.
Comfort is the point: a denture that isn’t comfortable isn’t finished. We build in review appointments to adjust the fit, and we’ll tell you honestly if implants would hold a lower denture more securely.
When a denture helps
Dentures suit a range of situations, from a first replacement to renewing an old set. It’s worth a conversation if any of these apply:
Several or all teeth missing
A full or partial denture restores a natural look and comfortable chewing without surgery.
An old denture that no longer fits
Mouths change over time; a loose, clicking or sore denture can often be relined or remade to fit properly again.
An alternative to implants
Where implants aren’t chosen — by preference or cost — a well-made denture is a proven, affordable option.
If you’d like a lower denture to sit more firmly, a small number of implants can anchor it — we’ll explain that option honestly alongside a conventional denture.
What to expect
A denture is made over a few visits, because getting the fit and bite right is worth the extra step.
- 1Step one
Assessment
We check the remaining teeth and gums, discuss what you want the denture to do, and give you the cost in writing.
- 2Step two
Impressions
Precise impressions and measurements are taken so the denture is shaped to your own mouth and bite.
- 3Step three
Try-in
You see and approve the look and fit before it’s finished — the shade, shape and how it sits are all checked with you.
- 4Step four
Fit & adjust
The finished denture is fitted, and we review and fine-tune it until it’s genuinely comfortable to wear and eat with.
What it costs
Dentures are priced by type — full or partial, and the materials used — and you’ll have a written quote before we start. Many health funds contribute, and interest-free options can spread the cost.
Health fund rebates
All major Australian funds accepted and claimed on the spot through HICAPS — you settle only the gap.
Interest-free options
Larger treatment can be spread over time rather than paid upfront — just ask.
No surprise additions
Your quote covers the plan agreed. If something changes clinically, we discuss it before it affects the cost.

We accept all major health funds
We’re a HICAPS practice, so you claim on the spot and settle only the gap on the day. Allura Dental is also a participating nib No Gap dentist and First Choice provider, for eligible nib Extras members. That network is nib’s preferred provider arrangement for dental, so an nib Extras policy goes further here. Eligible children can be bulk-billed under Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), and interest-free payment options are available.
… and every other Australian fund.

Questions
Dentures FAQs
Will dentures look natural?
Modern dentures are made to match the shape and shade of natural teeth, and you approve the look at a try-in before it’s finished. The aim is a smile that looks like you, not an obvious set of ‘falsies’.
Will I be able to eat normally?
With a little practice, yes — start with softer foods and smaller pieces while you adjust, and most people are eating comfortably within a few weeks. A well-fitted denture, and the review appointments to adjust it, make all the difference.
Do dentures hurt at first?
A new denture can feel bulky and cause a sore spot or two in the first days as your mouth adjusts — that’s normal and expected. Come back and we’ll adjust it; you shouldn’t have to put up with a denture that rubs.
Can a denture be held in place with implants?
Yes. A small number of implants can anchor a lower denture so it clips firmly in place and stops moving when you eat and talk — a popular option for people who struggle with a loose lower plate. We’ll explain it alongside a conventional denture.
How long do dentures last?
Several years typically, but your mouth changes over time, so a denture may need a reline to restore the fit, or replacing eventually. Regular check-ups keep an eye on the fit and the health of your gums underneath.
