The common ground
What is the same whichever brand is on your card
The same for all eight
The insurer and the dental network
- nib is the insurer behind the card, in each brand’s own words.
- One dental network sits behind all eight: nib’s First Choice, which Allura Dental in Truganina is part of.
- Claims run through HICAPS at the desk, whichever name is on the card.
Set by your brand, not by us
Products, limits and waiting periods
- Each brand sells its own extras products, with its own annual limits and waiting periods.
- What your cover pays is in your own policy document; the brand on the card does not tell you.
- nib describes its No Gap benefit by reference to nib Extras cover, and names none of these brands either way.
What we do about it
Checked before anything begins
- Bring the card and your entitlement is checked through HICAPS before treatment, not after.
- Anything beyond what your cover pays is quoted in writing first.
- The full nib mechanics live on our nib No Gap dentist page.

What each brand publishes about dental cover
Each brand sells its own products, with its own limits and waiting periods. What they share is the insurer behind the card and the dental network it points you at — and every one of these searches is nib’s, under the brand’s own name. Each link below opens that brand’s search on Allura Dental’s listing, so you can see it rather than take our word for it.

Studying or working here on a visa?
nib issues overseas student cover (OSHC) and overseas worker cover, and IMAN Australian Health Plans is a subsidiary of nib holdings limited. nib’s provider agreement counts both as an eligible nib customer — the same standing as cover sold under Qantas, Apia, Suncorp or AAMI.
nib names these
Covers with a dental benefit
- United Arab Emirates — OSHC Top Cover
- Kuwaiti — OSHC Premium
- Qatar — OSHC Premium
- IMAN Top
- IMAN Executive Top Cover
The three OSHC entries are nib’s sponsored-student programs for those countries, not every student policy. Eligible members on one of these covers have a dental benefit to claim at Allura Dental in Truganina, subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits.
Also nib’s own list
Covers with no dental benefit
- OSHC Retail
- IMAN Basic
- IMAN Mid
- IMAN Budget
- IMAN Value Plus
These policies do not include dental, so nothing is claimable against them. You are welcome here either way — you would be paying the published price, and we tell you what it is first.
What happens when you book
Approved before we start
- Bring your card — the green nib card or the purple IMAN one — and tell us when you book.
- On these covers nib approves the treatment plan before treatment starts, so we send it and wait.
- You get your entitlement and any out-of-pocket figure in writing before anything begins.
Product names and entitlements above are nib’s, from the provider material nib supplies to this practice; nib can change them. Your own policy document is what governs your cover. IMAN Australian Health Plans Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of nib holdings limited.
Questions
Questions from members of nib-issued brands
Is Qantas Health Insurance nib, and can I use Allura Dental as a preferred provider dentist?
Qantas says its health insurance is issued by nib health funds limited, and it directs members to nib’s network of dentists, which it calls First Choice providers. Allura Dental in Truganina is in that network, so a Qantas card claims at the desk through HICAPS and you settle the difference. Qantas sets the product, the limits and the waiting periods, so check your own policy for what it pays.
Is AAMI Health Insurance the same as nib, and which dentists can AAMI members use?
AAMI Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited and marketed by Platform CoVentures. AAMI says members have access to a network of dentists it calls First Choice providers, written FirstChoice in some of its documents, and Allura Dental in Truganina is in it. AAMI also tells members not to worry if a preferred practitioner is missing from its search tool.
Does Apia Health Insurance cover dental, and does my dentist have to be in the network?
Apia Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited, and Apia publishes a firm rule: for dental services, percentage-based benefits are only available at First Choice network providers. Allura Dental in Truganina is one. Apia also states that nib is not part of the Suncorp Group. What your cover pays for dentures, crowns or root canal is set by your own Apia policy.
Is Suncorp health insurance nib, and can I claim at the dentist straight away?
Suncorp Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited, and Suncorp states that nib is not part of the Suncorp Group. Suncorp applies the same rule as Apia: percentage-based dental benefits are only available at First Choice network providers, and Allura Dental in Truganina is in that network. Bring the physical member card and the claim is processed at the desk.
Who underwrites ING Health Insurance, and can I use any dentist?
ING sells health insurance as nib’s authorised agent, and nib health funds limited issues it. ING promotes the First Choice network of dentists as a member benefit, and Allura Dental in Truganina is in it. You can see any dentist your insurer recognises; the network changes how the benefit is worked out. Your ING tier — Essential, Everyday, Everyday Advanced or Premium — sets your dental limits.
Is Real Insurance health cover nib, and what does it pay at the dentist?
Real Health Insurance, sold under the Real Insurance brand, is issued by nib Health Funds Limited. Real publishes that percentage-based dental benefits are only available at First Choice network providers, and Allura Dental in Truganina is one. The percentage for your own cover is in your policy statement. Real’s no-gap offers through the network are optical rather than dental, so they do not carry across to teeth.
Is Australian Seniors health insurance nib, and does Allura Dental take it?
Australian Seniors is the brand the cover is sold under; the policy itself is Seniors Health Insurance, issued by nib Health Funds Limited. Seniors publishes that percentage-based dental benefits apply at First Choice network providers, and defines a recognised provider as one in private practice with qualifications nib recognises. Allura Dental in Truganina meets that, and claims at the desk through HICAPS.
Is Allura Dental a GU Health dental provider?
Yes. GU Health’s own provider search lists Allura Dental in Truganina as a No Gap provider in GU Health’s First Choice network, and in GU Health’s words eligible members with Extras cover get “100% back on preventative dental check-ups”, subject to waiting periods, annual limits and service limits. GU Health sets its own plans, so tell us you are with GU Health when you book: the entitlement is checked through HICAPS before anything begins. See the listing.
Do I get the same dental cover as someone on an nib-branded policy?
No, and that is the useful thing to know. Each brand sets its own extras products, annual limits, waiting periods and service lists. What they share is the insurer behind the card and the dental network that comes with it. So the question is never what the brand pays but what your policy pays, which Allura Dental in Truganina checks through HICAPS before anything is done.
Does the brand on my card get me nib’s No Gap dental benefit?
That depends on the policy you hold, not the brand on the card. nib describes its No Gap benefit by reference to nib Extras cover and names none of these brands either way. Of the eight, GU Health publishes a No Gap arrangement in its own name, and its provider search lists Allura Dental in Truganina as a No Gap provider in GU Health’s First Choice network. Allura Dental in Truganina does not guess: bring the card, and your entitlement and out-of-pocket figure are checked before treatment. The mechanics are on our nib No Gap dentist page.
Can I claim at the desk, or do I pay and claim it back later?
At the desk. Allura Dental in Truganina is a HICAPS practice, so whichever of these names is on your card, your fund’s benefit comes off while you are standing there and you settle only the difference. Bring the physical card: some of these brands publish digital-wallet claiming and others say it is not yet available, so the card is the one that always works.
My dentist is not in my brand’s Find a Provider tool. Can I still come?
Yes. Each brand’s tool lists the practices in its network, which Qantas, AAMI and GU Health all say in their own words, so an absence is not a verdict on a dentist. You can see any dentist whose qualifications your insurer recognises; the network only changes how your benefit is calculated. Allura Dental in Truganina is listed in all eight of these searches — the links are beside each brand above.
Does being in nib’s First Choice network mean my brand endorses Allura Dental?
No. First Choice is a provider agreement about agreed rates and how a benefit is calculated, not a recommendation. Allura Dental in Truganina is an independent practice, not owned by or acting for nib or any insurer named on this page, and the brand names and logos shown are trade marks of their owners, included only to identify eligible insurers.
My card says IMAN or nib OSHC — do I get a dental benefit?
Yes, on the covers that include dental. nib’s provider agreement counts an overseas worker or overseas student policy issued by nib or IMAN Australian Health Plans as an eligible nib customer, the same as cover sold under Qantas, Apia, Suncorp or AAMI. nib tells providers that dental benefits apply on the sponsored-student programs for the United Arab Emirates (OSHC Top Cover), Kuwait and Qatar (OSHC Premium), and on IMAN Top and IMAN Executive Top Cover — and that they do not apply on OSHC Retail, IMAN Basic, IMAN Mid, IMAN Budget or IMAN Value Plus. Eligible members on a cover that includes dental can claim that benefit at Allura Dental, subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits. nib approves the treatment plan before treatment starts, so bring your card and tell us when you book: we confirm your entitlement and any out-of-pocket figure with nib first.
What if my fund is not one of these brands?
You can still claim at Allura Dental in Truganina. The practice is a HICAPS partner with every Australian health fund, so your fund’s rebate comes off at the desk and you pay the difference. What comes back depends on your fund, your level of cover and how much of your annual limit is left.
I am in pain today. Does my insurer change how quickly I am seen?
No. Which insurer issued your cover changes what a visit costs you, not how quickly Allura Dental in Truganina sees you or what is done. If you are in dental pain, call the practice and a slot will be found as soon as one can be; the cover is checked afterwards, not before.
Each insurer’s own terms apply and can change; every statement above comes from that brand’s own published pages, which the links beside each brand go to, and the GU Health listing was checked on 15 October 2026. Allura Dental in Truganina is an independent practice, not owned by or acting for nib or any insurer named on this page, and not an nib Dental Care Centre.
