Cards & EFTPOS
All major credit and debit cards and EFTPOS accepted, for the balance of any treatment after your rebate.

Health Funds
Every Australian health fund accepted
We’re a HICAPS practice — and HICAPS is partnered with 100% of Australia’s private health insurers. So whichever fund you’re with, you can claim on the spot and simply settle the gap. Allura Dental is also a participating nib No Gap dentist and First Choice provider, for eligible nib Extras members. Check your level of dental cover with your fund and we’ll help you make the most of it.
Claim on the spot with HICAPS — settle only the gap on the day.
Rebates depend on your fund and level of cover. We’ll check your entitlement and confirm any out-of-pocket cost before treatment begins.
How it works
Claiming your health fund, step by step
-
1Step one
Bring your card
Just bring your physical or digital health fund card to your appointment. No pre-approval or paperwork needed beforehand.
-
2Step two
We check your cover
Before treatment begins, we check what your fund will contribute for the specific item numbers in your plan.
-
3Step three
You approve the cost
We confirm your exact out-of-pocket amount in writing. Nothing goes ahead until you’re happy with it.
-
4Step four
Claim on the spot
After treatment we process the claim through HICAPS at reception. Your rebate is deducted immediately — you pay only the gap.
Understanding rebates
What affects how much you get back
Two people at the same appointment can pay very different amounts. These are the four things that decide it — worth understanding before you compare quotes anywhere.
Your level of cover
Dental sits under "extras" cover, and policies vary enormously. Basic extras may cover preventive care only; higher tiers contribute towards major work like crowns and implants.
Your annual limit
Most funds cap what they’ll pay for dental each year. Once you’ve used the limit, further claims come out of pocket — and most limits reset on 1 January.
Waiting periods
New policies and recent upgrades often carry waiting periods, particularly for major dental. Your fund can confirm exactly when you become eligible.
The specific item numbers
Funds rebate against standardised dental item numbers, not against a treatment’s name. That’s why we give you a written plan with item numbers you can check directly with your fund.
This information is general in nature. Your fund is the authority on your own entitlements — we’ll always check and confirm before treatment begins.
Intraoral photos are included, whatever fund you are with. ADA item 072 is one most practices bill separately or skip. Allura Dental includes it for every patient, claims it against your general dental cover where you have one, and covers the rest — so there is nothing further for you to settle. It is the practice’s own inclusion, not part of any health fund arrangement.
Children
Bulk-billed dental for eligible children
Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides eligible children with a benefit cap towards a range of dental services over a two-year period — including exams, X-rays, cleans, fillings, fissure sealants and extractions.
No gap for eligible children
We bulk-bill CDBS, so eligible children’s covered services are provided with no out-of-pocket cost to you.
We’ll check eligibility for you
Bring your Medicare card and we’ll confirm eligibility and the remaining balance before the appointment — no guesswork.
Anything not covered is explained first
If your child needs something outside the schedule, we’ll explain it and quote it before proceeding — never after.
CDBS is a Medicare entitlement and eligibility is determined by Services Australia, not by Allura Dental. We are an approved provider and an independent business, not affiliated with or operated by the Australian Government. Benefit caps and eligibility criteria are set by Medicare and may change.
Spreading the cost
Interest-free payment plans
Some treatment is worth doing and hard to pay for in one go. A payment plan lets you start now and pay it off over time, with no interest charged on the amount you finance.
1 · Get your plan and price
Your dentist writes up what needs doing and what it costs. Nothing is committed to at this point — you take the quote away if you want to.
2 · Apply, usually same day
Applications are handled by an external payment plan provider, not by us. Approval is theirs to give, and it is generally quick.
3 · Start treatment, pay over time
Once approved, treatment can begin. You repay in regular instalments on a schedule agreed with the provider.
What people usually use it for
Anything where the total is large enough that timing matters more than the number itself.
- Braces and clear aligners — a full case, paid across the treatment
- Implants, crowns and bridges
- A larger treatment plan you would otherwise stage over years
- The gap left after your health fund has paid its part
Worth knowing before you apply
We would rather you hear this from us than find it out later.
- The plan is with the provider, not with us. Their terms, fees and eligibility rules apply, and approval is their decision.
- Interest-free is not fee-free. Providers commonly charge an establishment or account-keeping fee. Ask for the total, not just the instalment.
- Missing a repayment can cost you. Late fees are set by the provider — read what you sign.
- You can also just pay as you go. Staging treatment over time, or claiming your fund each year, often costs less overall. We will say so if that is the better option for you.
Interest-free payment options are provided by an external payment plan provider. Approval, fees, repayment terms and eligibility are set by that provider and are subject to their assessment — Allura Dental does not provide credit and does not receive a benefit based on which payment method you choose. Ask our team for the current provider and their terms before you apply, and consider whether the arrangement suits your circumstances.
Buy now, pay later
Pay in 4 with Afterpay
For everyday dental care you would rather not pay for all at once, we accept Afterpay — split the cost into four interest-free instalments, paid fortnightly over six weeks.
1 · Set up Afterpay
Download the Afterpay app and add an eligible debit or credit card. Afterpay runs its own quick checks and sets your spending limit.
2 · In clinic or online
At reception, pay with your Afterpay Card just like tapping any other card — or settle from home through a secure Afterpay payment link we send you.
3 · Pay in 4, over six weeks
You pay the first instalment at the time, then the remaining three every two weeks. No interest on what you finance.
What Afterpay is good for
Everyday treatment where the total sits within your Afterpay limit and you would simply rather spread it over a few pays.
- Check-ups, cleans and hygiene visits
- Teeth whitening and small cosmetic work
- Fillings and other smaller treatments
- The gap left after your health fund has paid its part
For larger treatment plans like braces or implants — usually more than Afterpay allows — ask about our interest-free payment plans.
Worth knowing before you use it
We would rather you hear this from us up front.
- Afterpay decides your limit and approval. Eligibility and how much you can spend are set by Afterpay, not by us.
- Interest-free, but not fee-free if you fall behind. Miss an instalment and Afterpay charges late fees — the four payments themselves carry no interest.
- You will need an Afterpay account. Available to residents 18+ with an eligible payment card.
- We receive no benefit from how you pay. Afterpay, health-fund gap or card — the fee to you is the same, and we will suggest whatever costs you least.
Afterpay is a third-party “buy now, pay later” service. Eligibility, spending limits, approval and any late fees are determined by Afterpay under its own terms and conditions — not by Allura Dental. We do not provide credit and receive no benefit based on the payment method you choose. Consider whether paying by instalments suits your circumstances. “Afterpay” and the Afterpay logo are trademarks of Afterpay; see afterpay.com for full terms.
Questions
Payment & health fund FAQs
Do you accept my health fund?
Almost certainly, yes. We’re a HICAPS practice, and HICAPS is partnered with 100% of Australia’s private health insurers — so whichever fund you’re with, you can claim on the spot. Just bring your fund card and you’ll only settle any gap on the day.
How much will my health fund cover?
That depends entirely on your fund and your level of dental cover — every policy is different, and annual limits reset. Bring your card and we’ll check your entitlement on the spot, then confirm any out-of-pocket cost before treatment begins. If you’d prefer to check first, we can give you a written treatment plan with item numbers to take to your fund.
What does "no gap" actually mean?
Simply this: if your health fund covers the full cost of the service, there’s nothing more to pay on the day. Whether that happens depends on your fund, your level of cover and how much of your annual limit you’ve already used — which is exactly why we check before treatment rather than after.
Do I have to pay the full amount and claim it back later?
No. With HICAPS your claim is processed here at the practice while you’re standing at reception, so your fund’s contribution comes off immediately and you only pay the difference.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes — interest-free payment plans are available at Allura Dental in Truganina so the cost of larger treatment can be spread over time. The plan is with an external payment plan provider, which sets approval, any fees and the repayment terms — not us. Interest-free is not fee-free, so ask for the total rather than the instalment, and you’ll have the full cost in writing before anything starts.
Is my child’s dental care really free?
Eligible children can have a range of dental services bulk-billed with no gap under Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), and we’ll happily check your child’s eligibility for you. CDBS is a Medicare entitlement — Allura Dental is an approved provider and an independent business, not affiliated with or operated by the Australian Government.
What payment methods do you accept?
Allura Dental in Truganina accepts EFTPOS, all major credit and debit cards, health fund claiming on the spot through HICAPS, and Afterpay. Interest-free payment options are available for larger treatment — ask our team when you book and we’ll tell you what applies to your quote.
My annual limit resets soon — does that matter?
It can make a real difference to your out-of-pocket cost. Most funds reset dental limits at the start of the calendar year. If you have treatment planned and unused limit remaining, it’s often worth discussing the timing with us — we’ll tell you honestly whether waiting is clinically sensible in your case.
