Diagnostics & Imaging
Dental X-rays & 3D imaging, on site
See what we see. Our OPG, cephalometric and 3D CBCT imaging is taken here in Truganina and reviewed with you in the same visit — no referral to another clinic, no second trip. We also welcome imaging-only referrals from other practices.

What we offer
Imaging & X-rays
Each image answers a different question. Where two figures are shown, the lower one is for our own patients; a referral or imaging-only visit includes the extra handling to send results back to your referring practice — we’d rather show you both than quietly average them.
OPG (full-mouth X-ray)
$119Referral / imaging only $149One wide panoramic image of all your teeth, jaws and sinuses — the standard overview for wisdom teeth, orthodontic planning and a first full look.
Cephalometric X-ray
$149Referral / imaging only $179A side-profile X-ray of the head and jaws, used mainly for orthodontic assessment and tracking jaw growth over time.
3D scan
$119Referral / imaging only $149A three-dimensional view for planning, captured on site so we work from your actual anatomy rather than an estimate.
3D CBCT scan
$229Referral / imaging only $249Higher-resolution cone-beam 3D imaging for implants, wisdom teeth close to the nerve, and anything a flat image can’t resolve — on site, where most clinics refer it out.
Intraoral X-ray
Priced after assessmentA close-up film of a single tooth or small area — the everyday diagnostic image taken when something needs a closer look. Priced with your consultation.
Imaging is taken only where it is clinically necessary. A registered dentist decides which image is appropriate at your appointment. Health-fund rebates vary by fund and level of cover.
Why it matters
Imaging in the same visit
No second appointment
OPG, cephalometric and CBCT imaging are captured here, so planning doesn’t wait on a scan booked somewhere else.
Planned from your anatomy
We plan implants and assessments from your actual 3D scan rather than an estimate — and show you the images on screen.
Referrals welcome
Another practice can refer a patient to us for imaging only. The images and report go straight back to them.
Good to know
Imaging questions
Do I need a 3D scan, or will an X-ray do?
Most check-ups need no 3D scan at all. A CBCT earns its place when depth matters — planning an implant, assessing a wisdom tooth against the nerve, or investigating something a flat image cannot resolve. Your dentist will explain which one is being recommended and why before it is taken.
Why does imaging cost more if I’m not already a patient?
Because the referral paperwork and administration sit outside an existing appointment. If you’re one of our patients, that handling is already part of your visit. If you’re coming to us only for a scan, the extra work is reflected in the price — we’d rather show you both figures than quietly average them.
Is imaging covered by my health fund?
Most funds contribute to diagnostic imaging, though the amount varies by fund and by your level of cover. We claim on the spot through HICAPS, so you only pay any gap. If you would like to know the cost before the day, ask us to check your cover first.
Can another dentist refer a patient to Allura for imaging only?
Yes. We welcome imaging-only referrals for OPG, cephalometric and 3D CBCT scans. The images and report are sent back to the referring practice, and referral / imaging-only pricing is shown on each option above so there are no surprises.
