Restorative
Dental implants
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up — a small titanium post that anchors a natural-looking crown. Done well it looks, feels and works like your own tooth, without cutting down the healthy teeth on either side.
Families across Truganina, Mt Atkinson, Werribee, Laverton and the rest of Melbourne’s west choose us for their dental implants.

Gumnut — a sealed capsule that anchors new growth; lasting foundations.
One tooth, or several
An implant can stand on its own or work with others to support a larger restoration. Which suits you depends on how many teeth are missing and the bone underneath — something the 3D scan shows us clearly.
Single implant & crown
One post and one crown to replace a single missing tooth — the neighbouring teeth are left untouched, which is its real advantage over a bridge.
Implant-supported bridge or denture
A few well-placed implants can anchor a bridge, or lock a loose denture firmly in place so it stops moving when you eat and talk.
What we won’t do: place an implant where the foundation isn’t right. If the bone or gum needs work first, or another option genuinely suits you better, we’ll say so — and refer you on where a case sits beyond what we should treat.
Is an implant right for me?
Implants suit a range of situations, but healthy gums and enough bone come first. It may be worth a conversation if you recognise any of these:
A single missing tooth
Whether from an accident, decay or an old extraction — an implant fills the gap without touching the teeth beside it.
Several missing teeth
A small number of implants can support a bridge, restoring a run of teeth more securely than a removable plate.
A loose or failing tooth
A tooth that can’t be saved can often be replaced with an implant, sometimes as part of the same plan.
Healthy foundations matter more than age. If there’s active decay or gum disease we’ll treat that first — placing an implant into an unhealthy mouth stores up problems rather than solving them.
What to expect
Implant treatment happens in stages over a few months — most of that time is healing, not appointments.
- 1Step one
Consultation & 3D scan
We assess the site with an on-site 3D CBCT scan, check the bone, and plan the exact position — you’ll see your own scan on screen, and get the cost in writing.
- 2Step two
Placing the implant
The titanium post is placed under local anaesthetic in a single, generally comfortable appointment. Most people are surprised how straightforward it is.
- 3Step three
Healing & integration
Over the following months the implant fuses with the bone. You’ll have a temporary solution in the meantime where it matters for appearance.
- 4Step four
The crown
Once it’s solid, we fit the custom crown — matched to your own teeth — and show you how to keep it clean for the long term.
What it costs
Implant treatment is priced by case — how much bone you have, whether a graft is needed, and the type of crown all change the number. What we promise is a written quote after the assessment, before anything begins.
Health fund rebates
All major Australian funds accepted and claimed on the spot through HICAPS — you settle only the gap.
Interest-free options
Larger treatment can be spread over time rather than paid upfront — just ask.
No surprise additions
Your quote covers the plan agreed. If something changes clinically, we discuss it before it affects the cost.

- Eat soft foods and avoid chewing directly on the area early on.
- Keep the site clean and follow any prescribed rinses or medication.

Questions
Dental Implants FAQs
Does getting an implant hurt?
Implant placement at Allura Dental in Truganina is done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during it. There can be tenderness or swelling for a few days; we’ll advise pain relief that suits you.
How long does the whole process take?
Usually a few months from start to finish, because the implant needs time to fuse with the bone before the final crown goes on. The appointments themselves are short — most of the timeline is healing, not chair time. We’ll give you a realistic schedule at the consultation.
Do I have enough bone for an implant?
That’s exactly what the 3D CBCT scan tells us. If there isn’t enough bone, a graft can sometimes build the site up first, or another option may suit you better — we’ll show you your own scan and explain honestly what’s possible.
Am I too old for a dental implant?
No — there’s no upper age limit. What matters is the health of your gums and bone, not your age. Many implant patients are older adults replacing teeth lost years ago.
How long do dental implants last?
Looked after well, a dental implant from Allura Dental in Truganina is a long-term replacement that can last many years. Like any treatment it can have problems, such as gum infection around it. Daily cleaning, not smoking and regular check-ups help it last.
Does my health fund cover implants?
Many extras policies contribute to implant treatment, though often under annual limits and sometimes with waiting periods. We’ll give you a written plan with item numbers so you can check your entitlement, and we claim on the spot through HICAPS.
