Our Message
The same dentistry for every patient — your nib cover changes what it costs you, not what we do.
How it works
How to use your nib cover at Allura Dental
-
1Step one
Check your cover
nib members whose Extras cover includes dental are eligible, subject to waiting periods, annual limits and service limits. The nib App shows your cover, your waiting periods and what is left to claim this year.
-
2Step two
Book your check-up
Book online or call us, and tell us you are with nib so we allow the right time for a full check-up.
-
3Step three
Put your card on your phone
nib’s digital member card sits in the nib App under Account. nib says iPhone users can add it to Apple Wallet, and Android users switch on NFC and hold the phone to the terminal.
-
4Step four
Claim at the desk
We check your cover on the spot through HICAPS and tell you any out-of-pocket figure before we start — card or phone both work.
What’s included
What nib’s No Gap list includes
If your nib Extras cover includes dental, this is what nib covers at Allura Dental — each item where it is clinically needed.
Preventive check-up
Included check-ups a year. In nib’s words, eligible members get “100% back on preventative dental check-ups” at a participating No Gap provider, subject to waiting periods and annual limits. Allura Dental is one of them.
- Who this is for
- nib Extras cover that includes dental
- Cover issued by nib under another brand
- Anyone due for a check-up before their limits reset
In nib’s words, an included check-up covers these items — each one only “as deemed necessary and appropriate in the clinical opinion of the dentist”:
- Examination or consultation — ADA 011–015
- Scale and clean — 114, 115
- Or removal of plaque — 111
- Fluoride treatment — 121
- Bitewing X-ray, per image — 022
- Panoramic (OPG) X-ray of the whole mouth — 037
- Additionally — intraoral photos (072), included by Allura Dental
Most nib covers reset at the start of the calendar year, so a preventive entitlement you haven’t used doesn’t carry into the next one — worth timing your visit around.
For eligible nib members with Extras cover that includes dental — not DentalPass. Waiting periods and annual and service limits apply. nib sets what is included and pays the agreed price for it; dentures are not included, and nib says the services provided are deducted from your annual limits and/or service limits. Source: nib, “nib No Gap dental” (nib.com.au), checked 13 October 2026.
Additionally, intraoral photos. ADA item 072 sits outside nib’s No Gap list, so most practices bill it or skip it. Allura Dental includes it for every patient, whatever fund they are with, so you see on screen what your dentist sees.
Taken where clinically useful. Allura Dental claims it against your general dental limit where you have one and covers the gap, so there is nothing further for you to settle. It is the practice’s own inclusion, not part of any health fund arrangement.
If your dentist recommends anything outside nib’s No Gap list, we’ll give you a quote before we go ahead.
Beyond the check-up
What else your nib cover gets back here
Everything outside nib’s No Gap list is claimed against your general, major or orthodontic benefit. nib publishes how each one works, and we quote the treatment in writing before it starts.
Fillings, crowns and general dental
nib says50–70% back
- nib: “our current range of Extras covers offer 50% to 70% back per visit, up to your annual limit” at a First Choice dentist
- Outside the network nib now pays a fixed set benefit per eligible service instead, and nib says your annual limit is the same either way
- General dental, like fillings, generally carries a two-month wait; major dental, like crowns and root canal, generally twelve months
- What you get back depends on your cover, the treatment and your remaining limits — check the nib App, and we quote you first
Braces and clear aligners
nib paysA percentage
- nib: “we pay a percentage of the eligible treatment cost rather than a set benefit” — the percentage and the maximum depend on your level of cover
- A twelve-month waiting period before an orthodontic claim
- An orthodontia annual limit that nib says rises for each calendar year you hold cover, inside a lifetime limit set by your plan
- Orthodontics stayed percentage-based through nib’s 1 October 2026 change
- A written plan with staged costs before anything begins
What nib pays
What your nib Extras pays at a First Choice dentist
Where you go changes what your cover is worth. A First Choice practice that is also a participating nib No Gap dentist is the furthest your nib Extras goes: the preventive visit is settled at the agreed price for eligible members, with waiting periods and limits applying, and the rest of your dental is still paid as a percentage rather than a fixed amount. It steps down from there. In nib’s words:
Where we sitMost benefit · the full agreed price
A First Choice nib No Gap dentist
- nib pays the full agreed price for an included preventive check-up, for eligible members, up to two a year, with waiting periods and annual limits still applying.
- Everything a First Choice dentist gives you — agreed rates on common treatments and percentage-based benefits — and the No Gap preventive visit on top.
Less · a percentage of the fee
A First Choice dentist
- “A percentage of the provider’s fee back on eligible services up to your annual limits”, plus agreed rates on common treatments.
Least · a fixed set benefit
A dentist outside the network
- “You’ll receive a set benefit for each eligible service. As dentists outside the First Choice network set their own fees, your out-of-pocket cost will depend on what they charge.”

Health insurance brands
Brands whose cover nib issues
Eligible members of these brands, whose health insurance nib issues, can also use First Choice at Allura Dental; your insurer’s own terms, limits and item list apply.
If your card says Qantas, AAMI, Apia, Suncorp, ING, Real Insurance, Australian Seniors or GU Health, nib issues your cover — what that means when you book a dentist.

What your nib cover can go towards here
Check-ups, X-rays, scale and clean and fluoride are the items on nib’s No Gap list (ADA 011–015, 022, 037, 111, 114, 115 and 121); fillings, root canal, crowns and braces are claimed against your general, major or orthodontic benefit instead, and we quote them in writing first.

Questions
nib No Gap dentist FAQs
Is Allura Dental a participating nib No Gap dentist in Truganina?
Yes. Allura Dental, at 22 Bradshaw Street, Truganina VIC 3029, is a participating nib No Gap dentist and First Choice provider, for eligible nib Extras members. You can also check nib’s Find a Provider before you book.
Will I have anything to pay at the end of an nib No Gap check-up?
For eligible nib Extras members with dental cover, and subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits, nib pays the agreed price for the preventive items on its No Gap list, so those items are settled between nib and Allura Dental rather than at the desk. Anything your dentist recommends beyond that list is quoted in writing before it goes ahead, so you see the cost before you agree to it.
What can a No Gap check-up include for eligible nib members at Allura Dental?
Subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits, it can include an examination or consultation (011–015), X-rays (022, 037), a scale and clean (114, 115) or plaque and stain removal (111), and fluoride (121), each where clinically needed. If your dentist recommends anything else, we give you a quote first.
Do I need nib Extras cover to get a No Gap check-up, or is hospital cover enough?
Extras cover that includes dental, for eligible members and subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits. Hospital cover on its own does not pay dental benefits, and nib’s DentalPass is a separate product rather than Extras cover, so check which you hold in the nib App before you book.
How many check-ups a year does nib’s No Gap benefit cover?
In nib’s words: eligible members get “100% back on preventative dental check-ups” at a participating No Gap provider, subject to waiting periods and annual limits — up to two check-ups a year.
Does a No Gap check-up use up my annual dental limit?
Yes — for an eligible member, and subject to waiting periods and service limits, in nib’s words the services provided “will be deducted from your annual limits and/or service limits”. It changes what you hand over on the day, not whether the claim counts, and the nib App shows what is left.
When do my nib dental limits reset, and does an unused limit carry over?
nib says that for most members limits reset at the start of each calendar year, and that a limit you did not use last year does not roll over. Some older nib covers work differently, so check yours in the nib App or your member account. Members who still have preventive cover available often book before the reset.
I’ve just joined nib — how long until I can claim a dental check-up?
nib sets the waiting periods, not Allura Dental. nib’s published guidance is that general dental, including check-ups and cleans, generally carries a two-month wait, and that major dental and orthodontics generally carry twelve months. Your own policy is the authority: the nib App shows the waiting periods on your cover and when they end.
Does the nib No Gap check-up include a scale and clean?
Yes, where clinically appropriate — for an eligible nib Extras member, subject to waiting periods and service limits, nib’s list covers a scale and clean (114, 115) or removal of plaque (111) alongside the examination (011–015) and fluoride (121). Your dentist judges what is needed; nib’s list sets what the benefit covers.
Are X-rays included in an nib No Gap check-up?
For eligible members, subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits, yes where clinically required: nib’s list includes diagnostics — a bitewing X-ray (022) and a panoramic OPG (037). Allura Dental takes OPG and 3D CBCT scans on site, so imaging your dentist asks for happens in the same visit.
Can my kids get a No Gap check-up on our family nib cover?
Yes, for eligible dependants, with each person’s own waiting periods and annual and service limits applying — the policy must be an nib Extras cover that includes dental. nib’s First Choice material lists general check-ups for the whole family on family Extras cover, and we book family appointments together where the day allows.
How do I check my nib cover and remaining limits before I book?
In the nib App, open Cover and then “My Extras usage”: nib lists each Extras service with the amount left to claim this year, and the same area shows your waiting periods. nib recommends checking before you book, because what a benefit pays turns on your policy, your waiting periods and your remaining annual and service limits rather than on the practice you choose.
Can I book my nib No Gap check-up online?
Yes, if you’re an eligible nib Extras member (waiting periods and limits apply). Book online or call us, bring your health fund card, and we check your cover on the spot through HICAPS.
Can I use the nib card on my phone instead of the plastic one?
Yes. nib’s digital member card sits in the nib App under Account: nib says iPhone users can add it to Apple Wallet, and Android users switch on NFC and hold the phone to the terminal. Allura Dental claims through HICAPS at the desk, so the digital card works exactly as the plastic one does.
What is nib First Choice, and what does it mean for my dental cover?
First Choice is the preferred provider network nib runs for dental, and Allura Dental in Truganina is part of it. For eligible members, nib pays a percentage of the fee on eligible services up to your annual limits, and agreed rates apply to a number of common treatments.
Is an nib preferred provider the same thing as nib First Choice?
Yes. First Choice is the name nib gives its preferred provider network for dental, so an nib preferred provider dentist and an nib First Choice dentist are the same thing — Allura Dental in Truganina is both. For eligible members it means agreed rates on a range of common treatments, and percentage-based benefits on eligible services up to the annual limits their cover allows.
What’s the difference between a First Choice dentist and an nib No Gap dentist?
Every No Gap dentist is a First Choice provider, but not every First Choice provider offers No Gap check-ups for eligible members, subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits — nib marks the ones that do on its listings. Allura Dental is both: First Choice for agreed rates on common treatments, and a participating nib No Gap dentist.
What is an agreed rate with nib?
nib defines an agreed rate as “a set price agreed upon by nib and your healthcare provider for certain services or treatments”. Agreed rates are why a First Choice practice can stretch an annual limit further than a set benefit at a dentist outside the network — the price itself is fixed in advance, not just the rebate.
What is a set benefit, and when does nib pay one instead of a percentage?
nib describes a set benefit as a fixed dollar amount paid towards each eligible service. Since 1 October 2026, nib has paid set benefits on eligible dental at providers outside its First Choice network, on affected policies. At a First Choice provider such as Allura Dental in Truganina, nib says percentage-based benefits continue, and your annual dental limit is the same either way — nib’s dental benefit changes page explains which policies are affected.
Do I have to change dentists because of nib’s dental benefit change?
No. nib says you can keep seeing any recognised dentist, and that your annual dental limit is unchanged. What changed on 1 October 2026 is how nib pays outside its First Choice network, where affected policies now receive a set amount for each eligible service. Allura Dental in Truganina is a First Choice provider, so nib’s percentage-based benefits continue there for members on those policies.
Does nib cover fillings, crowns, root canal or implants?
In part, in line with your cover. nib classes fillings as general dental, generally after a two-month wait, and crowns, root canal and implants as major dental, generally after twelve months — and nib publishes no single figure for any of them, because what you get back depends on your level of cover and your remaining limits. At Allura Dental these are charged at nib’s agreed rate where one applies, and we give you a written quote with item numbers first.
How much does nib pay back on braces or clear aligners?
Orthodontics works differently: nib says it pays “a percentage of the eligible treatment cost rather than a set benefit”, with the percentage and the maximum depending on your level of cover, after a twelve-month waiting period. There is an orthodontia annual limit that nib says rises for each calendar year you hold cover, and a lifetime limit set by your plan — nib publishes no universal amount for either. We set out a written plan with staged costs first, so you can see how your limits apply.
I’ve cracked a tooth — will nib cover an emergency dental visit?
In part, in line with your cover. nib lists urgent care same-day appointments among the treatments its First Choice dentists provide at agreed rates, so your consultation (011–015) and any X-ray (022 or 037) are charged at the rate nib has agreed with us rather than an open fee, and nib pays its share up to your annual limits once waiting periods are served. nib’s No Gap benefit applies to eligible members’ preventive check-ups rather than to emergency treatment, so we check your entitlement on the spot and quote you before we treat.
Does nib DentalPass get me a No Gap check-up?
No — a No Gap check-up is for eligible nib Extras members with dental cover, subject to waiting periods and annual and service limits, and nib describes DentalPass as access to agreed dental rates rather than Extras cover. DentalPass holders are still welcome at Allura Dental, which claims with every Australian health fund at the desk.
My card says Qantas, AAMI or Suncorp — does that count as nib at the dentist?
Yes, where nib issues that cover. nib issues the health insurance sold under Qantas, AAMI, Apia, Suncorp, ING, Real Insurance, Australian Seniors and GU Health, so eligible members of those brands can use First Choice at Allura Dental in Truganina. Each insurer sets its own terms, limits and item list, and GU Health also lists this practice as a No Gap provider in its own First Choice network, so check your policy and bring your health fund card — what that means when you book.
Is there an nib preferred provider dentist near me open on Saturday?
Allura Dental in Truganina is open Saturdays 9:00am – 4:00pm, and is a participating nib No Gap dentist and First Choice provider, for eligible nib Extras members, with waiting periods and annual and service limits applying. nib members travel in from Tarneit, Point Cook, Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Williams Landing and Wyndham Vale, all 10 to 20 minutes away.
How do I check a practice is on nib’s No Gap list — and why might a dentist not appear?
nib’s Find a Provider marks it on a practice’s listing, and nib notes that providers occasionally leave the network, so it is worth checking before each appointment rather than once. Allura Dental’s listing shows the nib First Choice dental panel. A dentist who is not listed can still be seen; the benefit is simply paid differently.
Is Allura Dental an nib Dental Care Centre?
No. nib Dental Care centres are a separate group of clinics. Allura Dental in Truganina is an independent practice that holds an nib First Choice agreement and participates in No Gap check-ups for eligible nib Extras members, with waiting periods and annual and service limits applying. It is not owned by, and does not act for, nib or any insurer named on this page.
Is there an nib No Gap dentist near Tarneit, Point Cook or Werribee?
Allura Dental is in Truganina, and the nib arrangements are the same wherever you travel from. Members come to us from Tarneit, Williams Landing, Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing, Werribee and Wyndham Vale, all 10 to 20 minutes away.
This page summarises nib’s public terms; nib’s terms apply and can change. See nib’s No Gap dental and First Choice dental network pages. Allura Dental in Truganina is an independent practice, not owned by or acting for nib or any insurer named on this page, and not an nib Dental Care Centre.
